*Continental Breakfast will be available at Douglas Avenue residences.
8 am depart from #276 and #280 Douglas Avenue, Saint John for St. Andrews
9:30 am Property of Betty and John Mansfield,#187 Ross Point Road in “Stone Ridge Estate” (on the way into St. Andrews)
10:15 – Wrightman Alpine Nursery #480 Brandy Cove Road, St. Andrews.
Harvey and Irene Wrightman have recently moved to St. Andrews from southern Ontario, bringing their Alpine Nursery business with them. They have a small alpine garden to view and plants may be purchased if desired.
11:00 – Alice–Ann Giberson, Blue Heron B + B, #53 Water Street.
11:15 – James Whitehead, epicurean. #288 Water Street. Gardens and Bee Hives.
11:30 – From there, drive to the corner of King and Queen Street to see the cedar hedge which Stephen Smith has pruned for the town, (a “must-see” according to Stephen) then on to:
The Crocker Hill Store #45 King Street. Stephen and Gail Smith, Small backyard Alpine garden and interesting driveway.
12:00 – Lunch: L’Europa, 48 King street.
1:15 – Jessie and Hugh Davis, #4 O’Neil Farm Road
2:00 – 4 Tour of Kingsbrae Gardens
4 – 5 After touring Kingsbrae Gardens, you will have an hour to explore the historic resort town of St. Andrews by the Sea, then back to Douglas Avenue to freshen up and get ready for our dinner reservation in Historic Uptown Saint John at ‘East Coast Bistro’ for 8pm. (Five minute drive or cab ride or 25 minute walk via Harbour Passage)
Sunday, September 11:Uptown Saint John, Kingston Peninsula, Quispamsis and Corn Hill
Nurseries.
9 am – Walk Harbour Passage from Douglas Avenue to uptown Saint John.
Visit Historic King Square and the Loyalist Burial Grounds, then a loop to see the cruise ship terminals on the way back to Douglas Avenue via Harbour Passage again. Walking time, approximately one and one half hours.
10:30 – depart for a short river ferry ride (free) to a property on the Kingston Peninsula. Crystal and Butch Jones, Portage Lane, designed and installed by member Peggy Wright.
11:45 – head for property of Duncan Kelbaugh and Betty, Model Farm Road. We will tour their gardens and have a Bar B Q lunch.
(We will all chip in for the food costs)
2:00 – Head out to Cornhill Nursery’s for a tour of the Nursery and Cedar Cafe. From there we will all depart for home.
You may choose to eat at the Cedar Café or not.
